Your Tour Leader - Lars Tharp:
Ceramics and China historian Lars Tharp specialises in the East-West China Trade and is a member of the BBC's Antiques Roadshow team. Born in Copenhagen, Lars read archaeology at Cambridge after which he joined Sotheby's, becoming a director and auctioneer of the firm. Advising museums and individuals on the acquisition and disposal of art, Lars also devises and accompanies cultural tours to the Far East and to his native Scandinavia. Lars lectures on Chinese porcelain worldwide, having many times visited the fabled city of Jingdezhen (the world's porcelain capital for over 1000 years) and made the acclaimed film, Treasures of Porcelain for the BBC in 2011. Associated with several heritage institutions in the UK, Lars is a judge on the Art Fund Prize panel, a visiting professor to De Montfort University and a liveryman of London's oldest guild, the Worshipful Company of Weavers (est. C 1130).
