| Description |
Travel to outback Queensland to the Mount Isa region. The world-class mineral province includes major Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, iron oxide Cu-Au, Mo, Re, phosphate and rare earth resources. Most mines are in Proterozoic host rocks and visits will cover origin, structure, and stratigraphy, with a comprehensive Time Space Chart detailing major vents in the Mount Isa - Cloncurry region. |

This field trip can be booked with a flight from Brisbane to the start point of the field trip inclusive.
If booked with the field trip then your flight will be confirmed as part of the IGC seats allocated on flights . |
If you book without the flight it will be the responsibility of the delegate to book the flight to return to the start point of the field trip from Brisbane.
These seats cannot be booked as part of the IGC allocation and you will only have the publicly available seats on the flight. |

| Day 1 |
Brisbane - Mount Isa - Lawn Hill |
Saturday 11th August |
| |
Participants fly from Brisbane to Mount Isa on designated morning Qantas flight. Meet driver and travel west from Mount Isa, then north to Riversleigh Station, passing Lawn Hill National Park and the Riversleigh Fossil site. (350 kms drive with boxed lunch en route). Arrive at Adels Grove on Lawn Hill Creek. Evening welcome drinks followed by dinner. |

| Day 2 |
Lawn Hill |
Sunday 12th August |
| |
After breakfast depart for an inspection visit of Century Mine by vehicle. In the afternoon visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed Riversleigh Fossil deposits at Lawn Hill Gorge. Return to Adels Grove for dinner and overnight at the campsite. |

Monday 13th August |
| |
Morning return to Mount Isa via Gregory River with possible geological site visits en route, depending on time. Afternoon visits to Lady Annie and Lady Loretta mine sites. |

Tuesday 14th August |
| |
Morning visit to Mount Isa Mine – probably mostly core of copper, lead and zinc orebodies. Afterwards there may be a visit to Hilton core and the visit may also include summit core at Valhalla. |

Mount Isa - Cloncurry |
Wednesday 15th August |
| |
After breakfast depart and inspect geology along the highway from Mount Isa to Cloncurry. Other visits during the day include Mary Kathleen pit, Mount Robin calcite quarry and Corella formation rocks. |

Thursday 16th August |
| |
Following breakfast depart and travel south to Selwyn via Kuridala and inspect core at the Ivanhoe mine and the pit at Merlin. Later inspect ironstone hosted mineralisation at Selwyn. |

| Day 7 |
Cloncurry - Mount Isa - Onwards travel |
Friday 17th August |
| |
Depart Cloncurry and travel to Mount Isa with pits visits to Ernest Henry mine and Rocklands mine to the north of Cloncurry. Afternoon arrival into Mount Isa. Own onward flight and accommodation arrangements from Mount Isa. Note: Arrival into Mount Isa will be in time to catch the late afternoon flight. |

Participants should be prepared for cool weather, particularly for camping overnight. Sun hat, warm jacket, waterproof rain jacket and strong walking shoes are essential. Camping equipment is supplied. |
