TOUR SYNOPSIS:
Visit the spectacular Channel Country, where Sir Sidney Kidman, the legendary Cattle King, carved out an enormous cattle empire. This is one of the most sparsely populated areas of Outback Queensland, but what it lacks in people it makes up for in cattle. Fed by rivers, including the Georgine, Diamantina and Cooper Creek, the channel country is a region of braided channels that come to life after rain, producing rich cattle-fattening pastures. The tour commences and finishes in Longreach, home of the Stockman’s Hall of Fame, and includes visits to well-known cattle stations, quaint and quirky outback towns–Winton, Boulia and Bedourie, plus two nights at the iconic Birdsville Hotel. With stunning landscapes, endless horizons and rich red sand dunes, this remote region also has amazing birdlife and once visited, will never be forgotten.
